Wonder or Trust?

I recently began reading a book that mentioned this quote by C.S. Lewis: “We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be.”

How often do we allow ourselves to hold onto circumstantial control we don’t actually have? In the lives of the chronically ill, that habit for control runs pretty deep. I’ve definitely struggled with this myself.

If we continue to think this way, the daily wondering of how painful life will be quickly turns into constant worry. We question Gods goodness toward us. Why is that? We brace ourselves for the worst thinking it’s probably not going to get better. But it does get better. Albert Einstein said it well: “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Try to slowly swap out the pessimistic mindset where you’d rather favor the former. And give yourself time to make that shift. I feel you if you do favor the former for a while!…but it’s not worth it to let that mindset take over for the rest of your life. I hope you take this caption into your week and let it bring you peace that you’re not alone if you’re still wondering how painful the best of life can be. Even at life’s worst, Gods miracles can be seen.
